Former Big 10 Star Signs with Storm
Date: Sep 27, 2013
Al Stewart, a 5'10" Point Guard from Chicago and All-NBL 3rd team selection last season is coming off his best campaign with the Storm yet. The team's lone captain was named an Atlantic Division All-Star in 2012-2013, as well as the NBL's Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. Starting 43 games for the Storm last season, Stewart was ranked in the top five in the NBL in assists, (3rd) steals (5th) and Field Goal Percentage (5th), all while leading the Storm to a berth in the NBL Finals.
This will be Stewart's 4th season playing for Storm Head Coach Joe Salerno, who says the organization is thrilled with Stewart's return.
"It was great news to hear Al would be able to return for his 3rd season with the Storm. He is the definition of a leader, someone who truly cares about this franchise and all of its fans. Al is a guy who leads by example on and off the floor. He has been a top 3 point guard in this league the last two seasons and I expect nothing less from him this season. Getting Al back is the first step in getting back to the NBL Finals."
Stewart is the NBL's All-time leader in steals (160), ranks second in assists (498), and 11th in rebounding (377).
