Former Big 10 Star Signs with Storm
Date: Sep 27, 2013
(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats are pleased to announce a key signing of 6'4 wing Chris Matthews - pending FIBA clearance.
Matthews is known in basketball circles as a dead-eye shooter and can swing between shooting guard and small forward.
"Chris flat-out has unlimited range and is a also very cerebral player on the court," explained Mill Rats President and General Manager Ian McCarthy. "He has played in some big time environments and we are excited he decided to join our club."
Matthews hails from Washington D.C. and began his college career at Washington State (NCAA-Pac 10) in 2005. He later transferred and played two season at St. Bonaventure (NCAA-A10) where he averaged 12.6 points per game and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 39% from behind the arc. As a member of the 'Bonnies' he teamed with Team Canada member and Orlando Magic forward, Andrew Nicholson.
Since college Matthews has played abroad in France, Mexico, Iceland as well as in the NBA Development League, the Premier Basketball League, and the Eastern Basketball Association.
