Former Big 10 Star Signs with Storm

On Saturday night the Halifax Rainmen helped themselves move forward in their quest for the NBL Canada playoffs, as they beat the Oshawa Power 125-78 in front of 3029 fans at the Halifax Metro Centre.
The Rainmen trailed the Power 21-20 after the first quarter, but outscored them in each of the last three quarters. After winning the second quarter 30-7, the Rainmen headed into halftime leading 50-28, led by guards Cedric Moodie with 9 points and Melvin Goins with 8, while the Power were led by Mark Gomillia with 8.
The Rainmen were led by a balanced scoring effort, as 6 players scored in double-figures and all 11 active Rainmen scored. Quinnel Brown led the team with 20 points on 7-9 shooting and 6 rebounds in less than 20 minutes played, while guards Cedric Moodie and Michael Hunter- in his first game with the Rainmen- came off the bench to score 17
points each. Quincy Okolie had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds off the bench and starting forwards Tyrone Levett had 12 and Akeem Wright had 11.The Rainmen outrebounded the Power 67-40, including a 21-10 advantage on the offensive glass.
The Power were led by forward Kirk Williams Jr with 17 points and 9 rebounds, Joe Posey with 16, Mark Gomillia with 15, Larry Diamond with 11 and former Rainmen, Canadian Papa Oppong with 10.
The Rainmen win improved their record to 19-18 on the season, the second best record in the Atlantic Conference and 4th in the NBL Canada. The Rainmen can clinch a spot in the NBLC Playoffs by winning two of their final three regular season games.
The Rainmen now travel to Summerside to take on the Storm tomorrow afternoon in a pivotal game against their Atlantic Conference rivals, before returning to home for their final home game of the regular season- Tuesday at 7PM hosting the league-leading London Lightning.
