St. Louis Park, MN - The Academy of Holy Angels Stars spoiled homecoming night for the St. Louis Park Orioles by pounding out a sturdy 30-0 win with a defensive effort that left nothing to the imagination.  The Stars scored 14 first half points and followed that up with 15 more in the second half to improve their record to 3-0 on the season.

Quarterback Joseph Heimbold carried the ball 22 times for 107 yards and a touchdown to lead his team to the victory.  He was efficient in the passing game where he put up steady numbers for the Stars (12-20-166-1td) including a 74-yard touchdown pass to John Kosmach.  The two hooked up on a nifty seam pass off the left side of the field that Kosmach marched to the end zone for the game’s first points.  They held up as the only points the Stars would need in the victory.

Jack Anderson rushed for 87 yards on 14 carries and also added a touchdown for his effort.  Keontay Shorter led the receivers with 4 receptions for 35 yards.  Heimbold spread the ball around to 7 different receivers.  The Stars had to earn their offensive stripes during the game as the Orioles (1-2, 0-1) defense was a tough puzzle for the Stars to solve.

The first quarter featured a number of possession changes and defensive stops.  The story of the Game for the Stars (3-0, 1-0) was their defense.  There was nothing available on the ground our in the air for St. Louis Park.  The Stars held the offensive minded Orioles to just 54 yards of total offense including shutting down the running game while holding St. Louis Park to -9 yards rushing on 25 carries.

Getting to mobile Oriole quarterback Jonny Sorenson was not an issue for the Stars produced 7 sacks.  Defensive end Alex Gillard (4 sacks) was in the backfield all night long and when the Stars rushed three, it was effective as the defensive line was impressive from the opening kickoff to the final horn.

The shutdown defense and offensively prolific Stars will play host to DeLaSalle on Friday night at 7pm.
