Jack Burkel- born in 1996, from Rochester, MN— looks to start a bright future with ASU ACHA Hockey. Burkel comes to ASU looking to fill the void of two graduating senior goaltenders next season.  The Sun Devil coaching staff looks forward to Jack’s arrival on campus. “Jack is a guy that has had a great Jr career and gained a lot of experience being that go to guy his team can rely on. We have been very fortunate here at ASU and have had outstanding goaltending the last four years with Lucas Felbel and Jordan Gluck. We believe Jack can move right in and compete for a number one job” said Head Coach Josh Brown. From the high school level in Minnesota through his junior career, he has always been a starter and wants to keep advancing his game and making that leap at the next level in the ACHA.

Jack’s last two seasons have been spent with the Vermont Lumberjacks of the EHL. He finished the season playing in 23 games with a 2.62 goals against average and a .908 save percentage. He has helped his team make the playoffs the last 2 seasons and was a two time player of the week in the EHL this year.

In addition to the great hockey program, Jack says “ASU is the right fit for me as I am highly interested in starting in the aviation and ROTC programs”.
