On Wednesday January 17th 2018, the Sun Devils faced Long time Rival, the University of Arizona Wildcats. As the puck dropped for the first minute of the third period, a noticeable change occurred on both sides of the uniforms. The Sun Devil and Wildcat Rivalry began to reach its height as the hits increased as well as the intense battles all over the ice.
Again, in historic rivalry fashion, at 16:35 of the third period, the Wildcats Ethan Stahlhuth comes back to tie the game up at 2 a side .

From a left side of the umbrella pass from Andrew Aziz, Ames gets his 4th and final crack at finding a screened opportunity to puck the puck on net. Ames then winds up a fake slap shot sending a hard pass to Austin Ehrlich who slams home the game tying goal sending Oceanside Ice Arena into an eruption.
