A long streak of 0's riddle the scoreboard, until the 6th Inning, where it got interesting here at Desert Sun Stadium. Middle Infielder turned Pitcher, Sean Gaughan, goes 6 solid Innings for the Arizona Roadrunners as they tie with Long Beach Armada after an interesting turn of events in the bottom of the 6th.
Armada batter Rey Franco was apparently pinch hit for by fellow 3rd Baseman Adam Bies, who hit in the game tying RBI with his at-bat. Everything seemed fine and normal, until Rey Franco came up to bat directly after his supposed pinch hitter. This caused some disgression and a long talk between umpire and both managers, they decide to settle it with a tie, because nothing was affected by Franco's at bat, as he grounded out and no more runs were scored. There may be more action taken on the resoulution, but for now it is a tie.
Not to take anything away from either pitcher, Gaughan and his adversary Robert Strecker both had fantastic games. Gaughan went 6 innings with 7 K's, 3 Hits, and 2 Walks, and Strecker pitched a full 7 inings with 5 Hits, 2 Walks, and 9 K's. Both with very impressive days on the bump, but with no victor thus far, that is yet to be determined as I noted previously. Great game overall, unfortunate that it had to come to an end in such a manner.
