Newcomer Gardner fitting in with Bruins' game plan

DECATUR, Ill. - The Decatur Blaze christened the Decatur Civic Center with a 7-3 win Friday night over the Berkley Bruins in front of 212 spectators.
Brandon Adler scored the first goal in the Decatur franchise's history, while Curtis Schlereth added a goal and an assist, Micah Young two goals and an assist and a goal and two helpers out of Luka Znidarsic.
Duncan Irvine and Matthaeus Wanninger also scored for the Blaze and Paul Stomper picked up the win in goal with a 37-save effort.
Blaze captain John Urmetz chipped in two assists.
Tory Shand, Julian Willibey and Colton James scored for Berkley and goaltender Jacob Gorzelski suffered the loss, but finished with 35 saves.
The two teams meet again Saturday night for an 8:30 p.m. EDT puck drop.
