Newcomer Gardner fitting in with Bruins' game plan

BROWNSTOWN, Mich. - Ken Winter and Jacob Hernandez each scored two goals to pace the Detroit Fighting Irish over the Berkley Bruins 8-5 in the lone Midwest Junior Hockey League game Wednesday night at the Ice Box Sports Center.
Shawn Mott added a goal and two assists, James Smith three assists and Zack Cruz a goal plus an assist for Detroit.
Chase Tackett and Aaron Robinson also scored and former Berkley goaltender Kory Dombrowski finished with 27 saves to earn the win.
For the Bruins, Julian Willibey scored three goals with an assist and Tim Muhsman notched two goals and three assists for a five-point game.
Tory Shand contributed two assists and netminders Jacob Gorzelski and Hunter Myers combined to make 50 saves between the pipes for Berkley.
The Bruins next host the Traverse City Hounds this weekend for a three-game set at the Berkley Ice Arena. Game times are 7 p.m. Friday night, 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
