Middletown, NJ – The New Jersey Junior Titans are proud to announce that the club along with our new facility, Middletown Ice World has been selected by the North American Hockey League to host one of two 2014 Future Prospects Tournaments that the NAHL will be hosting.  The NAHL is hosting a West Coast event in Anaheim, CA as well as their East Coast event at Middletown Ice World.  The FPT at Middletown Ice World will begin on April 25th and run through April 27th.

This will be the first year of the NAHL’s Future Prospects Tournament.  The Future Prospects Tournament will operate under the North American Hockey League’s Management team.  The North American Hockey League is USA Hockey’s only Tier II Junior A Hockey League and falls directly under the United States Hockey League.  The NAHL also operates the North American Prospects Hockey League which the Titans are full members of at the U16 and U18 levels.  The Titans U16 team has been semi-finalists in their first two years in the league and will participate in the U16 and U18 Playoffs February 14th-17th in Troy, Michigan.

The Future Prospects Tournament (FTP) Series is open to all players with birth years from 1998-2001 and will be divided into two age groups.  Group A will be players with 1998 or 1999 birth years and Group B will be players with 2000 or 2001 birth years.  Each team consists of 17 players, ten (10) forwards, five (5) defensemen, and two (2) goaltenders.  There will be a total of 136 players at the event.  Each team will play in four games, three round-robin games and one playoff game.

Said NAHL Coordinator of Player Personnel Craig Barnett, “I think this type of camp is a unique opportunity for young hockey players and families to not only showcase their abilities but more importantly, learn what junior hockey is all about. We will introduce and provide them with a weekend that involves the ‘NAHL Experience,’ which will consist of competitive hockey, education of the future levels of hockey, academic preparation for NCAA hockey and exposure to professional, college, and junior scouts.”

Titans Owner George Haviland expressed his excitement in hosting the event as well, “We are honored to have the opportunity to host this event at our state-of-the-art facility, Middletown Ice World at Middletown Sports Complex.  We are excited to give these players a look at our facility and an opportunity to learn about and experience how the NAHL and NAPHL operate such a professional organization.  We believe that this will be a fantastic partnership hosting this event for years to come.

The camp fee is $200 and includes the ice time and jersey. Registration form and camp fee payment can be found and filled out online at: www.nahl.com/fpt or contact Craig Barnett at cbarnett@nahl.com with questions.
