After the dust settled, the U14 Girls Junior Titans came from Tier II Nationals with a Silver Medal. The Titans run to the National Championship is a historic one, as this was our first girls team ever reach the National Championships. As the Titans girls program is only a few years old, these girls have set a new standard for girl’s hockey in the Titans Organization. With the season officially over, we wanted to recognized and celebrate the success of this team in particular. Their determination and perseverance throughout the entire season lead them to be a top team in the Nation. The team’s accomplishments start local as they were first MAHWAH League Champions; and then they were Atlantic District Champions; and finally they were National Silver Medalists. It was truly a great season, for an incredible group of girls.

        It is hard to speak about this team without mentioning the four key players; Goaltender Karoline Winzer who was the recipient of the Titan Club’s ESPY for best goaltender in the organization, and forwards Rebecca Foggia, Jesse DeVito, and Brianna Haviland. The “Big Three” up front were the top 3 scores in the entire National Tournament. The offensive power up front coupled with strong goaltending from Winzer made this Titans team a force to be reckoned with. Finally, the Titans Coach of the Year, Matt Kiernan was the glue that held it all together. Titans Owner George Haviland had this to say about Kiernan and Titans Girls, “Matt Kiernan’s leadership behind the bench was excellent. He was an encouraging presence on and off the ice. The girls program has taken a giant step to becoming a top program in the country and I want to personally congratulate each and every one of the girls.”

        The future is bright for girl’s hockey in the Titans Organization as we have just announced Olivia Mucha as the Women’s Hockey Director. With the participation of the girl’s from this year’s program and the guidance of a hockey director focused solely on the women’s program, we hope to see many more National Tournament appearances in the future.
