Jeff Arnold is a 6'8" right handed pitcher who will be making his Florence Freedom debut in 2013. Arnold was a standout pitcher for Butler Traditional High School in Louisville, Kentucky, finishing his senior year with 7 wins and a 1.08 ERA, which ranked 10th in the state of Kentucky. After graduating from Butler Traditional, Arnold chose to attend Morehead State University to play baseball. In his freshman year, Arnold appeared in 11 games in relief situations. He finished the year with an 0-1 record and a 10.66 ERA in 12.2 innings. He greatly improved during his sophomore season, finishing with a 5-1 record, a 7.2 ERA, and 32 strikeouts in 10 relief appearances and 8 starts. In his junior season, Arnold started 10 games and made 4 relief appearances and finished the year with a 4-1 record, 31 strikeouts, and a 9.1 ERA. Due to injury, Arnold redshirted the entire 2011 season. The severity of his injury and the time needed for rehabilitation significantly limited his 2012 campaign as well, as Arnold was only able to appear in 7 games and pitched just 7.2 innings.
