Brian Brightwell drove in the go-ahead run to give the Woodlands Strykers (16-29) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Woodlands Strykers hung on to beat the East Texas Pump Jacks (33-15) 4-2 on Monday.
Gabe Fyock reached on an error to start the sixth. He then went from first to second on a single by Garrett Lozano. Finally, Brightwell came to the plate with the Woodlands Strykers trailing by one, and singled, scoring Fyock and Lozano.Brightwell got a hit in each of his four at bats. He singled in the second, fifth, sixth, and eighth innings.
Derrick Hadley racked up eight strikeouts in the the Woodlands Strykers win. Hadley allowed two earned runs, seven hits and no walks over nine innings.
It was a good day at the plate for the East Texas Pump Jacks' Damion Lovato. Lovato went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the second and ninth innings.
Jacob Lindgren (2-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
