Signed as a rookie free agent in 2006 with the New York Yankees. Spent 2006 and 2007 in the Dominican Summer League, hitting .316 in 2007 with three homers and 31 RBIs in 66 games.
In 2008, was sent to the Gulf Coast League Yankees, where he played 39 games, hitting .238 with two homers and nine RBIs. In 2009, he was signed by the Chicago Cubs, playing in the Domincan Summer League. In 2010, Ramirez started the year with the single-A Peoria Chiefs, appearing in 16 games and hitting .200. He was then placed with the single-A Boise Hawks, hitting .350 in 52 games with four homers and 29 RBIs.
In 2011, Ramirez signed with the Normal CornBelters, where he would be named to the Frontier League All-Star game in a season where he hit .328 with 24 doubles, 7 triples, two homers and 43 RBIs. In 2012, Ramirez played the first half of the season with Normal, reaching the All-Star Game once again with a .273 average with 18 RBIs. However, the day after the All-Star Game he was traded to the Southern Illinois Miners, helping lead the Miners to a Frontier League title with a .256 average with two homers and 11 RBIs before hitting .250 in the playoffs.
Ramirez began 2013 with the Rockford Aviators, hitting just .190 with four RBIs in 15 games before signing with the Frontier Greys.
