Bo Folkinga is in his first year with the Florence Freedom. After graduating from Twin Falls High School in Idaho, Folkinga chose to attend Olympic College. He had two outstanding years on Olympic's baseball team before transfering to Western Oregon University. During his senior year at Western Oregon, Folkinga received the following awards and honors: All Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection, First Team NCAA All-Western Region, 2012 Player of the Year for the Great Northwestern Athletic Conference, All-American selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association, and selection as a semifinalist for the Tino Martinez Award (top National Player for DII). Folkinga spent his college summers playing baseball for independent teams. He spent his 2011 summer playing for the Kelowna Falcons and had a brief stint with the Everett Merchants in 2012. After going undrafted in the 2012 MLB Draft, Folkinga agreed to play with the Morley Eagles, an affiliate of Australian Baseball Leaue team the Perth Heat.
