Lambeth survives penalties, beats Mt.Brydges, 6-3Tritownship Wed, Feb 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Lambeth Lancers were able to defeat the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs, 6-3. The win by Lambeth clinched the best of seven series at 4-0. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:36 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. The Lancers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Mt.Brydges power plays. Lambeth was led by Nick Griffin, who registered two goals. Griffin scored the first of his two goals at 7:06 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lambeth. Mitch Thomas picked up the assist. Griffin's next tally made the score 5-1 Lambeth with 9:39 left in the second period. Matt Schurr provided the assist. Lambeth additionally got points from Mitch Furlonger, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Lambeth also had goals scored by Nick North, Kale Corbeth, and Trevor Daynes, who each put in one. In addition, Lambeth received assists from Mike Golinowski, Warren Hargraves, and Riley Gilmore, who each chipped in one and Tanner Smith and Jake Alkins, who contributed two a piece. Mt.Brydges' offense rang up 65 shots on the Lancers' net. The Bulldogs' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Lambeth's power play unit. Mt.Brydges was helped by Cameron Dewan, who had one goal. Dewan scored 2:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lambeth. Cole Chilvers picked up the assist. Others who scored for Mt.Brydges included Sean Candler and Curtis Taylor, who scored one goal each. More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Grant Johns, Mike Frizzell, and Connor Lovie, who each chipped in one. JP Trudell recorded 62 saves for the Lancers. Lambeth ended with 63 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. For the Lancers, Cody Wuytenburg and Gilmore were ejected from the contest. The Bulldogs' starting goalie, Dane Gubbels, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Andrew Harrimand-Duke, who stopped 10 shots. Mt.Brydges ended with 57 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For the Bulldogs, Tyler Lockwood was ejected from the game.
