Lambeth completes comeback, beats Mt.Brydges, 4-3Tritownship Tue, Feb 11, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lambeth Lancers rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs. Lambeth let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Lancers took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Tanner Smith at 13:14 in the third period. Lambeth went down 2-0 after Mt.Brydges' Grant Johns put the puck home at 7:34 in the first period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a goal by Mike Frizzell at 14:36 in the third, the Lancers got the game-winner from Nick North at 16:33 in the third period. After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Bulldogs face elimination next time out. Lambeth got the win on the strength of a great game by North, who had one goal and two assists. The Lancers stifled Mt.Brydges' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs were unable to stop Lambeth from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lancers eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Lambeth additionally got points from Smith, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lambeth included Mitch Furlonger and Nick Griffin, who each put in one. More assists for Lambeth came via Keith Arnold, who had one. Mt.Brydges put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lambeth to score on any of its three power plays. The Bulldogs' offense rang up 55 shots on the Lancers' net. Mt.Brydges was helped by Grant Duffield, who registered one goal. Duffield scored 5:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mt.Brydges. Mt.Brydges also got points from Johns, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Mt.Brydges received assists from Sean Candler, Ryan McDonnell, and Curtis Taylor, who contributed one a piece. JP Trudell rejected 52 shots on goal for Lambeth. The Lancers incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Lambeth, Josh Bumpus was ejected from the game. Dane Gubbels recorded 42 saves for the Bulldogs. Mt.Brydges incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
