Marcil's big game bests Port Stanley in 7-4 Lucan win

Behind a great game by Nathan Marcil, who had one goal and two assists, the Lucan Irish defeated the Port Stanley Sailors, 7-4.

Marcil beat Ricky Corkum with a shot 4:30 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Lucan. Dylan Ross picked up the assist. Marcil dished an assist on Nik Petrie's goal that made the score 5-2 Lucan at 19:51 into the second period. He added another helper on Andrew Reichert's goal that made the score 6-3 Lucan at 9:04 into the third period.

With the win, Lucan evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Lucan additionally got points from Petrie, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lucan included Jake Morin, Mike Worby, and Keiron Cobban, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lucan received assists from Zach Beaumont, who had three and Mitch Smith, Tyler Richardson, and Andrew Purdom, who each chipped in one.

Port Stanley's offense rang up 35 shots on the Irish's net.

The Sailors were helped by Anders Adzija, who registered one goal. Adzija scored 18:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Lucan. Port Stanley also got points from Tanner Turley, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Port Stanley also had goals scored by Zachary Zinga and Josh Reda, who each put in one. More assists for Port Stanley came via Tyler Beaulieu, who had two.

Tyler Beattie made 31 saves for Lucan on 35 shots. The Irish incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Corkum rejected 23 shots on goal for Port Stanley. The Sailors incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
