Despite the lopsided score, the Whalers outshot Dundas 60-58.

Chris Downey got the Whalers on the board midway through the second period. Dundas responded with a goal of their own about four minutes later, giving Dundas a 5-1 lead heading into the third period.

Dan Minor scored a pair of goals in the third period for the Whalers.

Ex-NHLer Ryan Christie and former Thorold Blackhawks player Scott Stafford both had a pair of goals for the Real McCoys.

Bryan Worosz earned the win in net for the Real McCoys making 57 saves. Rick Miller made 49 saves in the Whalers net.

The two teams will meet again on Friday in Dundas for a 7:45 pm game. The Whalers will host the Orillia Tundras the following night at 7:30 pm.
