One-time pro Ryan Cirillo joining Welland Whalers

Mike Marquis and Tanner McGowan each netted two goals and collected three assists to help the Welland Whalers sail past the Norwood Vipers for their first victory of the Allan Cup Hockey senior A season.
One-time Niagara Falls Canucks standout John Rorison, in his first game in the Welland lineup; Chris Downey, Kevin Floris and Drew rounded out the scoring as the Whalers improved their record to 1-5-2-1 with Saturday night’s 8-2 victory at Welland Arena.
Fraser Smith, another recent addition to a Whalers team intent on increasing its offensive firepower, also had three assists.
The win lifted the Whalers into fifth place in the six-team league, one point ahead of 2-7 Norwood.
Colton Sauer made 44 saves between the pipes for Welland for the victory.
The Whalers outshot the Vipers 55-46 and won despite going only 3-for-12 on the power play. Norwood finished 0-for-4 when it had a man advantage.
Welland can make it two wins in a row with a victory on the road Sunday afternoon against the 4-4 Stoney Creek Generals.
