The Welland Whalers were outscored 7-0 in the third period as they lost to the Whitby Dunlops 14-2 Saturday night in Welland.

John Williamson scored both Whalers goals.

Brett McConnachie and Peter MacKellar both had a hat trick for the Dunlops while Doug Carr and Murray Free each added a pair of goals.

Rick Miller stopped 24 of 34 shots before being replaced in the Welland net by Cody Vinnai, who stopped 15 of 19 shots.

Dan Marwick of the Whalers and Dylan O’Neil of the Dunlops were both ejected in the third period for fighting.

Whitby outshot the Whalers 53-26, including 22-9 in the third period.

The Whalers are now off until January 18th when they travel to Orillia to face the Tundras before hosting the Brantford Blast the next day.
