The Blast led 1-0 after the first period but Charrois’ goal in the second period tied the game at 1-1 heading into the third period.

The Whalers return to action on Saturday when they host the Orillia Tundras at the Welland Arena in what is being billed as “Family night at the Whale Tank”.

A number of businesses in the Welland area purchased tickets for the game and then donated those tickets to individuals and families.

Tickets are still available for the game and can be purchased at the arena box office before the game.

The puck is set to drop at 7:30 pm.
