Four Suns Selected to Play in 2025 FCSL All-Star Game
Date: Jul 4, 2025
Winter Park, Fl. - The Orlando Snappers dropped their second consecutive game against the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs by a final score of 8-7.
For the second day in a row, the Snappers took the first lead of the ballgame as they scored 3 runs in the second inning.
Hudson Walburn (University of West Alabama) drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single while Jax Carter (Rollins College) and Nikola Mezzanotte (Oberlin College) drove in the next two runs.
Mezzanotte did so with a single towards the right side while Carter grounded out to second to score Rashad Robinson (University of West Georgia) from third.
After the Snappers scored 1 run in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead, they put up a 3-spot in the 5th frame to make it a 7-0 ballgame.
Blake Fields (Miami Dade) led off the inning with a towering homerun down the left field line and the middle of the lineup followed him with 2 more RBIs.
Orlando was just 1 run away from the mercy rule victory territory but the Dawgs’ comeback began immediately in the bottom of that fifth inning scoring their first 3 runs of the night.
Their biggest inning of all came in the seventh when they added 5 more runs and took an 8-7 lead
With that same score in the 9th inning, Orlando had a rally going with runners at second and first and 2 outs.
Matt Farner (Undecided) delivered a single over the second baseman’s head and into right field that sent Carter all the way from second to try and score but a perfect throw from the Diamond Dawgs beat him out at home as the tag was applied in time and the hosts took their second win of this 3-game set.
The Snappers will look to avenge three straight losses, dating back to Saturday, on Thursday July 3, as they close out their series against Winter Park with first pitch set for 7:00pm from The First Academy in Orlando, Fl.
