Another Rainy RIverRats Win!

Tonight, Horizon High School was the stage, and Pitching was the main act. A tight game between the Sanford RiverRats and Winter Garden Squeeze proved that sometimes, Baseball is a game of “Slow and Steady wins the race.”

THE GAME.

It was five shutout innings for Austin Waring, who has started a handful of games for the RiverRats. He only allowed three hits and did not walk any batters through 17 innings faced. Waring has had the velocity to get hitters, but he has improved tremendously in controlling the strike zone. This outing laid a great foundation for the RiverRats to score some runs.

Cameron King continued to stay hot and single in left field following a Daniel Spicher walk.
With two on and only one out, the situation escalated quickly for the Squeeze. Dawson Mock put a ball in play that would have been a routine single to load the bases. An aggressive green light sent Spicher storming around third to score. On the E3, Mock advanced to 2nd that brought the lightning fast King to score, making it a 2-0 game.

The RiverRats once again capitalized on a Cacophony of errors and aggression on the bases. The pitching staff was able to come in and do its job, building a base for the offense to work off of, while keeping the runs away and paving the way for the order.

THE RAIN.

The unfortunate truth in Florida is this: It will rain. It is never a question of “if” but only a question of when. The Rain got the best of both teams, setting up what may be quite the doubleheader Saturday, pending Facility approvals. As the postseason swiftly approaches, the Sanford RiverRats inch closer and closer to a clinch and grow stronger and more composed each inning played.
