Twins score late in 13-6 win over league leading Monarchs

Cade Sutherland drove in four runs on two hits to lead Derby Twins past Hutchinson Monarchs 13-6 on Saturday. Cade Sutherland hit a home run to center field in the seventh inning, scoring two runs, and tripled in the ninth inning, scoring two.

 

Derby Twins won thanks in part to seven runs in the seventh inning.  Joel Lindahl doubled, scoring three runs, Cooper Scott singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Cade Sutherland homered to center field, scoring two runs.

 

Derby Twins got on the board in the top of the second inning after Carter Kutz doubled to center field, and Hutchinson Monarchs committed an error, each scoring one run.

 

Hutchinson Monarchs jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Keegan Demmer was struck by a pitch, Dylan Bell hit a sacrifice fly, and Jarrett Herrmann singled to center field, each scoring one run.

 

Lucas Weaver started on the mound for Derby Twins. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and four runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Ethan Giesbrecht stepped on the hill first for Hutchinson Monarchs. The righty surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Peyton Walters tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Derby Twins in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking one.

 

Derby Twins accumulated 14 hits in the game. Tyson Owens led Derby Twins with three hits in five at bats. Noah Allison, Cooper Scott, and Carter Kutz each collected multiple hits for Derby Twins. Tyson Owens stole two bases. Derby Twins were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Rolen Driskoll made the most plays with 14.

 

Hutchinson Monarchs collected 14 hits in the game. Jake Gutierrez led Hutchinson Monarchs with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 4-for-5 on the day. Blake Bradford, Drew Bugner, and Jackson Legg each collected multiple hits for Hutchinson Monarchs.

 

Next up for Derby Twins is a game against Junction City Brigade on Sunday.
