NORTH ADAMS, MA. - After winning their previous three games, the Keene SwampBats fell behind early Wednesday night at Joe Wolfe Field against the North Adams SteepleCats, and were unable to erase the deficit, taking the loss by a final score of 6-0.

Shortstop Dylan Cupp (Dallas Baptist) got aboard with a walk to start the game, but the Bats went in short order to close out the first frame. In the bottom half of the first, Keene starter Max Weber (Felician) climbed the hill, but allowed three runs on two hit by pitches and a balk, and was only able to go one inning.

RHP Skip Shenosky (Penn State) came into the game in the second to pitch three innings in relief, allowing three runs on two hits. North Adams took a 6-0 lead after two frames, and that’s how the game would stay until the end.

The Bats drew a total of eight walks in the contest, and had plenty of hard hit balls and lineouts that didn’t find the ground. Keene finally tallied their first two hits of the contest in the top of the seventh, on infield singles from C TJ Schuyler (Indiana) and LF Gabe Pitts (Central Connecticut State). On a positive note, SwampBats LHP Marcello Mastroianni (Duke) turned in his best outing of the year so far, going three innings while conceding one hit and fanning three.

Keene remains the team with the best record in the NECBL, moving to 14-3 in 2025. North Adams picks up their first shutout of the year, as they improve to 4-9. The SwampBats have an off day on Thursday, June 26th, before hosting the Ocean State Waves in a set of two seven-inning games on Friday, June 27th at Alumni Field.

First pitch of game one against the Waves is set for 4:30 PM on Friday, and game two will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
