Twins Secure Win Against Bat Cats

Cade Sutherland drove in four runs on three hits to lead Derby Twins past Wellington Heat 20-8 on Monday at 517 East Harvey Avenue. Cade Sutherland singled in the second scoring two, walked in the second scoring one, and hit a solo home run to left field in the fourth scoring one.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Derby Twins collected 14 hits and Wellington Heat nine in the high-scoring affair.
A single by Caden Ransom on an 0-2 count put Wellington Heat on the board in the bottom of the first.
Derby Twins flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring 14 runs on five hits to take the lead, 14-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Daniel Craig that drove in three.
Derby Twins scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to right field by Matt Hamond on the seventh pitch of the at-bat.
Two more Derby Twins runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 17-5. Cade Sutherland hit a solo home run to left field, and Carter Kutz hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Griffin Cooley hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the fifth for the Derby Twins.
Tyson Owens homered to right field, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh for the Derby Twins.
Ryan Koob pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for Derby Twins. The pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs while, striking out five and walking five. Ryan Pacha stepped on the hill first for Derby Twins. The pitcher surrendered five hits and five runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking four. Jason Reed started on the mound for Wellington Heat. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and 14 runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking seven.
Derby Twins collected 14 hits in the game. Noah Allison, Daniel Craig, and Tyson Owens each collected multiple hits for Derby Twins. Derby Twins had patience at the plate, amassing 13 walks for the game. Ramon Martinez, Griffin Cooley, and Carter Kutz led the team with two free passes each.
Wellington Heat tallied nine hits in the game. Caden Ransom provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Wellington Heat with two runs batted in. The right fielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Wellington Heat had patience at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Doc Needham, Jacob Reed, and Robert Montemayor led the team with two walks each. Gage Ryba stole three bases. Wellington Heat stole five bases in the game.
Derby Twins will travel to Haysville Aviators for their next game on Tuesday.
