Twins Secure Win Against Bat Cats

Bats were blistered on Saturday, but Derby Twins couldn't quite get the job done against Newton Rebels and lost 12-11. Newton Rebels collected 11 hits, while Derby Twins had 11.
Griffin Cooley collected three hits in five at bats in the loss. Griffin Cooley hit a home run to left field in the seventh inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the ninth inning.
Derby Twins opened the scoring in the first after Caden Richards hit a solo home run to left field.
Three more Derby Twins runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 4-0. Kade Sheldon homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Tyson Owens singled, scoring one run.
Newton Rebels tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a single by Kasey Lowe, and an error.
In the bottom of the fourth, Derby Twins broke up the tie when Ramon Martinez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Then a double by Cooper Scott followed to extend the lead to 7-4.
Newton Rebels flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 9-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Spencer Goldston that drove in two.
Derby Twins took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Griffin Cooley homered to left field, scoring two runs, to give Derby Twins the upper hand, 10-9.
Newton Rebels took the lead in the top of the eighth. Raisean Dorsey homered to center field, scoring two runs, to give Newton Rebels the lead, 11-10.
Joel Lindahl homered to left field, which helped Derby Twins tie the game at 11 in the bottom of the eighth.
A single by Jake Smith gave Newton Rebels the lead, 12-11, in the top of the ninth.
Colton Jones earned the win for Newton Rebels. The reliever allowed one hit and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking none. Brandon Enders took the loss for Derby Twins. The right-handed pitcher went three innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out five and walking none. Lucas Weaver led things off on the bump for Derby Twins. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and eight runs (two earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. Brody Farthing led things off on the hill for Newton Rebels. The hurler surrendered seven hits and seven runs (five earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking two.
Derby Twins collected 11 hits in the game. Kade Sheldon, Cooper Scott, and Griffin Cooley each drove in two runs for Derby Twins. Joel Lindahl collected two hits for Derby Twins in four at bats.
Newton Rebels piled up 11 hits in the game. Raisean Dorsey, Cade Martinez, Jake Smith, and Spencer Goldston each collected two hits for Newton Rebels. Raisean Dorsey, Cade Martinez, Jake Smith, and Spencer Goldston each drove in two runs for Newton Rebels. Newton Rebels stole four bases in the game. Newton Rebels turned one double play in the game.
