Gulls Can’t Mash Their Way Past The Waves

Bristol defeated the Vermont Mountaineers by a score of 4-1 Friday night at Muzzy Field. The Blues are now 6-2 on the season and have won two straight.
Jack Hopko, (Rhode Island) got the scoring started in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI single to drive in Mika Peterson (Brown) and give the Blues a 1-0 lead. In the sixth, Kevin Milewski (Seton Hall) extended the Bristol lead with an RBI single to make it 2-0 Blues.
However, the Mountaineers cut into the lead in half in the top of the eighth when Conlan Daniel (Wright State) knocked an RBI single up the middle to make it a 2-1 game.
In the bottom of the eighth, A pair of Mountaineer errors allowed Thomas Ahlers (Keene State) and Nate Lincoln (Marist) to get on base. Later in the inning, Joseph Demucci (Penn State) gave the Blues some insurance and made the Mountaineers pay when he ripped a two RBI single to center field. Ahlers and Lincoln came around to score and make it a 4-1 game going into the top of the ninth.
Bristol spanned six different arms across the game, Jackson Kassow (Iona) got the start and provided the Blues with three shutout innings. The combination of Nick Kane, (Sacred Heart) Randy Ramnarance, (New Haven) JT Landwehr, (Portland) Vincent Spizzoucco, (Central Connecticut State) and Kyle Emmons (Townson) came in and picked up the save in the ninth. The Bullpen was lights out and allowed only one earned run, zero walks and tallied five of the eight Bristol strikeouts on the night.
The Blues pitching staff has allowed only ten hits and one run over their last two games. Bristol will make the trip to Danbury tonight to take on the Westerns and look to win their third straight game in three days.
