A1 Solar Signings

Date:  Source: NECBL Newport Gulls

NEWPORT, RI — Wrapping up this week’s Solar Signings, powered by A1 Roofing, are junior infielder Randy Seymour from Michigan State and Gonzaga sophomore pitcher Finbar O’Brien!

Seymour returns to the Gulls after a strong summer, batting .235 with 31 hits and 20 RBIs in his All-Star season.

At Michigan, the Illinois native is hitting .288, with 42 hits — averaging one per game — and 31 RBIs.

This season, O’Brien has maintained a sub 4.0 ERA in just under 46 innings with the Zags. He’s struck out 65 batters in that time and given up just three home runs.

Against Santa Clara on April 11, he pitched seven innings, allowing one hit and fanning 10.

Come back next week for another pair of Gulls to join the flock with our Solar Signings, powered by A1 Roofing!

The Newport Gulls, members of the 13-team New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded as the Rhode Island Gulls in 1998 in Cranston, R.I., before moving to Newport in 2001. In addition to recruiting, fielding, and developing a team of the nation’s top collegiate baseball athletes and attracting 50,000 fans annually to Cardines Field, the predominantly volunteer organization strives to benefit the community via summer camps, reading programs, fundraisers, scholarships, and charitable donations – totaling over $1 million since 2001. The Gulls are eight-time champions of the NECBL – the winningest franchise in league history – and were ranked as the overall No. 1 summer collegiate baseball team in the country by Perfect Game USA in 2012.
