Date: Jun 16, 2025
The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) announces the Week 2 Player & Pitcher of the Week honors, including honorable mentions for the week concluding on Sunday, June 15th.
Both the player and pitcher of the week come from the Upper Valley Nighthawks, as outfielder/first baseman Anthony Greco (William & Mary) and pitcher JT Guerrero (Fresno State) took home the honors for the second week of the regular season.
Greco has been mashing the ball lately, securing an RBI in each of Upper Valley’s week two games, good enough to lead the league in the past week with 12. Greco is also tied for first in hits in the same time frame with 10, including a two-run blast in an 11-1 rout of the Sanford Mainers on Sunday.
To fans who followed Greco during his season with the Tribe, these numbers are no surprise. This year, Greco started 50 games, batting .253 and posting 38 runs, 45 hits, and 31 RBI, while leading the team in walks with 34.
Meanwhile, Greco’s teammate Guerrero has been dealing on the bump. In two appearances this week for the Nighthawks, Guerrero recorded two wins, striking out 12 total and only surrendered one earned run on five hits.
Guerrero appeared in 25 games for the Bulldogs this season, recording two wins and six saves while striking out 38.
Overall, it’s been an impressive stretch for the pair of Upper Valley duo. Their next matchup comes tonight as the Nighthawks travel to Sanford in a rematch with the Mainers at 6:30pm.
