Meluskey and Weaver's Paced Performances Translated to Team Success

Another week down, another great week of work from our 2025 Waves! This week, two players that took the field at Old Mountain this past summer showcased their dominant skillset, and in turn, earned Player of the Week honors. On the mound, junior JT Weaver had a near perfect week, and at the plate, redshirt freshman Tommy Meluskey led the offensive efforts to bring his team success in week five.

Earning Whalers Brewery Pitcher of the Week honors, 2024 Wave JT Weaver earned a dominant win for the Raiders against Staten Island. Throwing the first five innings of play, Weaver set the pace on the mound, allowing only one run on four hits, striking out four batters with no walks. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania native faced nineteen batters, yet silenced Staten Island enough to give his team the opportunity at the plate, where they went on to win 10-1, and earn a weekend sweep. The junior has recorded 27.1 innings of work in five appearances, tallying 20 strikeouts to only six walks, with a 4-0 record.

At the plate, earning Rienzi Pasta Player of the Week honors, is 2024 Wave Tommy Meluskey from New Mexico State. In his first season with the Aggies, he has earned himself a spot in the starting lineup, and has been dominant despite it being his first season competing in the NCAA. In their weekend against Portland, Meluskey’s poised efforts at the plate earned him a career weekend as they got the series victory. Across five games in week five, Meluskey tallied thirteen at bats, recording five hits. But, in those five hits, he earned seven RBI’s, two home runs, one walk, and a double, and was 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts across the weekend.

Our guys are crushing it in their young seasons, and we’re so proud of their accomplishments! We are beyond excited to have them joining us at Old Mountain this summer. For real-time updates on your favorite current and former Waves, follow along on our Instagram and X @OceanStateWaves!
