The Canadian Baseball Network has listed their top influencers of 2024 in Canadian Baseball. Names range from MLB household names such as Josh Naylor and Freddie Freeman to agents, broadcasters and our very own Mitch Davidoff! The Eagles are tremendously pleased and proud that Mitch has been recognized as an important contributor to Canadian Baseball.
Davidoff (Victoria, BC) played college ball at Tacoma Community College, Yakima Valley College, Patten University in California, and Central Christian University in Kansas before coaching with both the Victoria Mariners and the Victoria Eagles. He was the Greater Victoria Association’s technical director for five years and is in his 10th year as director of baseball operations at the Lambrick Park High School Baseball/Softball Academy. With the Eagles, who were 26-20 in competitive BCPBL, he is ably assisted by President Martin Winstanley.
Eagles grads include RHP Nick Pivetta, 6-12 with a 4.14 ERA in 27 games (26 starts) for the Red Sox, as he pitched 145 2/3 innings with 172 strikeouts; RHP Noah Takacs, 5-7 with a 6.69 ERA and three saves at class-A Bradenton and in the rookie-class Florida Complex League with 33 strikeouts in 39 innings and OF Sam Shaw, who batted .220 with six doubles, a triple, two homers and 14 RBIs. Plus, Dominic Hambley, who was 2-3 with a 5.40 ERA and one save in 24 games, fanning 48 in 40 innings at class-A Myrtle Beach and the rookie-class Cubs in the Arizona Complex loop. Reliever Kurtis Horne pitched four seasons in the Mets’ organization, going 3-0 with a 5.44 ERA and one save, striking out 17 in 43 innings. Former Eagles with the Junior National Team include LHP Kurt Horne, RHP Austin Blair (current), INF Nolan Weinmeyer, INF Tyrus Hall, OF Oliver Mabee, RHP Gavin Pringle, OF Tyler Duncan, Pivetta, Shaw, and Takacs.
