Big First Inning and Five Homeruns Break Five Game Drought...

After Wednesday’s game was postponed the Locos and Monarchs participated in the doubleheader yesterday. Both games were played in Howell, Michigan and both games were won by Lima.
The Locos took game one, 10-7. The Locos scored 5 runs in the opening inning and the Monarchs did not score in their half of the 1st. Austin Fisher started the game for Michigan and was pulled after the first inning. His final line was 1.0 innings pitched, 5 allowed runs, 3 of which were earned, he walked 5, and he boasted an ERA of 4.5. The Locos starter was Cody Soliday, he pitched 3.0 innings and allowed a total of 6 runs and 7 hits. Drew Kirby came in for Soliday in the 4th and picked up the win. Kirby pitched 4 innings and allowed 1 run.
On the offensive side for the Locos Justin Gorski, Liam Richards, Kaden Brown, Brice Estep, Landon Tate, Caden Lockwood, and Bo Shinkle each knocked in at least 1 run in the 1st game of the day.
Game 2 of the doubleheader boasted a final score of 3-1. The pitching matchup was Thomas Howard vs Sam Bassett-Kennedy. Both starters pitched 5.0 innings and allowed 1 earned run. 2 of the Locos’ 3 runs were scored in the 3rd inning. Landon Tate hit an RBI double early in the inning and Blake Bowen knocked Tate in the latter half of the inning. The Monarchs’ lone run came in the 5th inning when Ruiz scored Harden. In the 6th, Blake Bowen gave the Locos an insurance run by knocking a ball out of the yard. He is now up to 2 home runs hit this year.
The Locos have now won 4 consecutive games to give them a 10-8 record. The Locos travel to Grand Lake tonight to take on the Mariners.
