Copperheads defeat Locos 9-5

Date:  Source: Lima Locos

After 5 days off the Locos were back in action yesterday(6/15). They had a matchup with the Copperheads and fell short of victory. 9-5 was the final score dropping the Locos record to 2-5. They now have had their worst start since 2014.

The Cooperheads starting pitcher Matthew Blanchard was credited the win. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 4 runs, 2 of which were earned. Trenton Neuer, Alex Unger, Hunter Strong, Aidan Dunlap, Joey Canzoni, and Michael Budolick each knocked in runs during the contest.

The Locos’ starting pitcher was Thomas Howard. He was given the loss after pitching pitching 3.1 innings and allowing 5 runs. Dane Ebel entered the game in the 6th and looked impressive in the 2 innings he pitched. He put down all 6 batters he faced and stuck out 4. Blake Bowen and Brooks Wright had the only RBI in the game for Lima. Brooks Wright knocked in Fujiwara in the 2nd, but it was considered an unearned run because Fujiwara reached base earlier that inning due to a fielding error. It is also worth noting that Blake Bowen’s runs batted in came off of a double. He has had a red-hot start to the year. In 29 at-bats he has 11 hits, driven in 8 runs, and boasts a .379 batting average.

The Locos are back in action tonight at 7:05 to take on the Cooperheads in game 2 of the 3 game set.
