#12 DePaul University’s quest to claim second place in the Black Division standings took a bit of a hit as a result of their split against Marian University, with both teams winning on the other’s home ice, and #16 Marquette University sweeping UW Oshkosh this past weekend. Marquette’s sweep pushed them three points clear of DePaul; however, DePaul still has one divisional series left to play.
The series finales of both series produced dramatic finishes and excitement for the fans. For the DePaul/Marian game the final 46 minutes were played knotted at two and required overtime to find a winner. Playing 3-on-3 frees the game up and it took less than a minute for Marian to come out victorious. Marquette and UWO looked like they were going to follow suit and end up in overtime as well, but a Marquette goal with under a minute left in regulation allowed them to quash UWO’s hopes and pull out the series sweep.
In the lone inter-division battle, Aurora University swept Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Non-conference action saw #2 Concordia University WI tie #7 Sault College on Friday and win on Saturday, UW Milwaukee get swept by #8 Michigan State University, Roosevelt University get swept by #4 Iowa University, and Lewis University sweep Loyola University.
ACHA Ranking #6 came out on Friday and three NCHL teams made the top 20. Concordia University WI leads the way at #3 and are followed by DePaul University at #12 and Marquette at #16.

Marian kept fighting and at 12:51 Simon Ellingson, assisted by Gavyn Galloway, ended DePaul’s thoughts of a shutout. A minute and 52 seconds later the DePaul lead shrank to one goal when Carter Broton, assisted by Justin Doucette and Jason Vogler, found the back of the net. Galloway went to the penalty box on a hooking call at 11:05 and at 11:11 Josh Maloney, assisted by Lee and Paschen, gave the home team their first lead in the game. Marian tied the game at two when Jackson Sweeney lit the lamp at 14:18, credited with an assist was Simon Ellingson.
Neither team would score the remainder of the first period and the scoreless streak extended through the second and then the third period.
