Holy hot dogs, has it ever been a rough start for your favourite lacrosse team. The Victoria Blazers only managed to dress 11 runners for their 4th game of the season, overcome by injuries, illnesses, job demands, coaching commitments, night church, and tickets to Aladdin On Ice.

While there were tons of improvements for the squad, the Blazers still started slow, allowing the Aces an early 4-0 lead. They missed assignments defensively, many of which luckily didn't cost them. They also took too many penalties, including a 5-minute short handed situation for a team that was already short on personnel. But despite all of those issues, the good guys rallied, clawing their way back into the game in the second period, and opened the third with a huge goal to get them right back into the mix. When all was said and done, the Blazers had to settle for a 6-6 tie. But heck, we'll take it.

Leading the dudes' offense back from the ugly start were Pat and Andrew McMillan, Adam West-Patrick, Luke Crowther, Julian Spence, and Kyle Bronson. Jeremy Bell, Brent Leckie, Devon Wicks, Kyle Johnston, and Kurt Bronson helped Blazers goalie Rob Wood keep the ball out of the Blazers net down the stretch. Nick Miller was a huge difference maker too, arriving midway through the game to rally the troops just as the tide was beginning to turn.

Despite the mediocre showing on the floor the bleachers of Archie Browning were crowded once again, with somewhere below 350 fans estimated to be in attendance. Spotted in the crowd was 'Encino Man' and 'Son In Law' star Pauly Shore. When asked to comment on the game, Pauly replied, “I was in a movie called 'In The Army Now'. Did you ever see it? I saw it. You should see it. It's about joining the army. I bet the Blazers wish some players would join their army next time they have to play. Catch my drift? Anyway, I do voice acting now.”

The Blazers return to action tonight at 7:30 pm @ Archie Browning, where they will once again face the W̱SÁNEĆ Arrows. Don't miss it – admission is free!
