Date: May 11, 2022
The New Tecumseth Civics are proud to announce they have re-signed star forward Sincere Toto as one of their Captains for the upcoming 2021-2022 GMHL Season.
Toto returns to the Civics after a 2020-2021 season that was shortened due to the pandemic. In the two game the Civics played Toto showed himself to be one of the most gifted playmakers in the league racking up 6 Points (All helpers) in the two games they played. At the time of the shutdown he was tied for the division lead in assists alongside Civics Teammate and NCAA Commit AJ Ryan.
Sincere was excited to be returning to New Tecumseth this season and has plans of providing strong leadership, “Playing for the Civics has given me ample opportunity toward pursuing my goal of continuing hockey at the next level in the near future. I have the honour this season to return as a leader for the Civics and I will implement the crucial values of having a strong compete level, winning mindsets and will strive to bring a championship home alongside my teammates.”
Toto, from Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan was a 5th round draft pick of the Civics (108th overall) in last summer’s 2020 GMHL Entry draft. Toto had spent the previous two seasons playing junior ‘B’ Hockey with Fort Knox of the PJHL (Prairie Junior Hockey League) and junior ‘C’ hockey splitting time with the Lumsden Jax and the Wolseley Mustangs of the QVJHL (Qu'Appelle Valley Junior C Hockey League) where he had 28 Points (8 Goals, 20 Assists) in 43 games of junior hockey.
Prior to his junior hockey career Toto played U18 AA for the Melville Millionaires minor hockey program where he had 10 points in 30 games and developed into a hard working forward that puts a focus on working hard every time he steps foot on the ice.
Civics GM Jordan Richardson shared his thoughts on bringing back Toto for another season, “Without question Sincere is one of the finest young men I have had the chance to bring in over the past few years. His skill speaks for itself as he works as hard as anybody out on the ice and the results spoke for themselves through our first two games. Toto also has a commitment to his teammates both on and off the ice that shows a maturity beyond his years. He is both a high skill player and a high character person and I am excited to have him wearing an A next season.”
Civic Nation only got a taste of what Sincere can do on the ice last season and is hungry to see more, we welcome you back to New Tecumseth with open arms Toto!
