Former Captain Nadeau commits to University of Toledo

The time of year we love is upon us and we couldn’t be more excited, this week the New Tecumseth Civics have the pleasure of kicking off their 2021-2022 GMHL season with their season and home opening game against the Bradford Bulls
With the season finally upon us we have the pleasure of announcing more offseason moves as the Civics are proud to announce the following 10 have been added to the roster for the 2021-2022 season.
Free Agent Additions
2001 Forward Chase Desnomie: The Veteran forward Desnomie from Fort Qu’Appelle who was drafted by the Civics this summer joins up with former teammate and friend Sincere Toto in New Tec. Desnomie joins the Civics as a player known as a naturally gifted skater and playmaker who put up a goal and an assist playing for the Ochapowace Thunder junior hockey team in 6 games last season, he also played for the Melville Millionaires U18 program.
Desnomie will be wearing #11 for the Civics!
2001 Defenseman Aleksei Raimer: Raimer joins the Civics from Novosibirsk where he spent 3 season playing for the U16 and U18 programs, Raimer has show the natural talent to be a shutdown defenseman and a big part of the Civics blue line this season where he will play among an extremely talented group of fellow Russians.
Raimer will be wearing #7 for the Civics!
2003 Defenseman Denis Nikolaev: Another Russian defenseman who comes from a strong minor program is Denis Nikolaev who will be joining the Civics following playing for the prestigious Notre Dame Hounds team in Saskatchewan including a season in 19-20 where the defenseman had 18 points (12 Goals) in 27 games.
Nikolaev will be wearing #44 for the Civics!
2003 Forward Lucas Drobczyk: Lucas Drobczyk is a local Barrie player who spent time playing for a very strong Barrie Colts minor hockey team. Drobczyk has been the surprise of camp showing offensive talent and a level of physicality to his game that inspires his teammates around him. He will be given a big opportunity as a rookie forward on the Civics squad Drobczyk comes from a hockey family as his older brother Jacob played Major Junior in both the OHL and the QMJHL
Drobczyk will be wearing #23 for the Civics!
2002 Forward Sebastian Del Balso: Forward Sebastian Del Balso joins the Civics from outside the Montreal area in Deux Montagnes, where he played for the Lac Deux Montagnes Pantheres minor hockey program. Del Balso came in as a strong player to Civics camp and has been improving every practice since he arrives, he will be a strong part of the Civics forward group.
Del Balso will be wearing #8 for the Civics!
2003 Goaltender Zach Rowe: Among all other stats in hockey the two that matter the most are Wins and Losses, despite being only 18 years old Barrie goaltender Zach rowe has played parts of 2 juniors seasons and come up with 6 wins, and 0 losses. He has GMHL experience having played in the South Division for the Niagara Whalers, he has a combined junior hockey GAA of 3.08 and a save percentage of .903. He will get the opportunity to learn from one of Barries most accomplished goaltenders in Zach Levas as part of a trio also including Ethan Matthew.
Rowe will be wearing #30 for the Civics!
Re-Signing
2002 Forward Matthew Mainville: Mainville re-joins the Civics after a shortened season last year where he appeared in both games for the Civics. Standing 5’11 he played the season before last for the Fort Frances Canadians Midget AA program where he had 34 points in 25 games including 16 Goals and 18 Assists. He will be relied on as a veteran forward both on and off the ice.
Mainville will once again be wearing #9!
2001 Defenseman Volodymyr Bulych: Bulych returns to the Civics from his home in Odesa, Ukraine. He played his rookie season of junior hockey for the Civics during the 19-20 season where he had 6 points in 31 appearances. He played his minor hockey for the HK Almaty U16 and U20 programs in Kazakhstan.
Bulych will once again be wearing #3!
2001 Defenseman Vladislav Kukarin: Kukarin joined the Civics in 19-20 for his first year of junior hockey and developed on the ice all season long, working his way into the lineup and picking up on defensive zone coverages, This year Vlad comes into the season in the best shape of his hockey career and he has looked the part so far. This season Vlad will be looking to improve on his first year stats which included an Assist in 7 appearances and last year where he had an assist in the first 2 games of the shortened season.
Vlad will once again be wearing #5!
2000 Forward/Defenseman Brandon Thiesenhusen: Thiesenhusen was lucky enough to not have to take the season off last year, after a rookie season spent with the Civics in 2019-2020, Thiesenhusen was able to play in the USPHL Premier division for the Dells Ducks where he continued his development in the Mid-West West division.
Thiesenhusen will be wearing #2!
2002 Forward/Defenseman Caleb Sabourin-Credger: Sabourin-Credger, from Kapuskasing, standing nearly 6 feet tall, played for the Kapuskasing Midget A Ice Hawks in the 2019-2020 year where he spent half of the season playing defence and the other half forward. In 32 games he had 26 Points (11G, 15A) while adding 64 PIMs. Sabourin-Credger also AP’d for the Midget AAA Flyers where he had a short stint. Last season he was with the Civics where he trained and appeared in both games for the Civics adding an assist in the shortened season.
Sabourin-Credger will once again be wearing #18!
2001 Forward Theodore “Tiki” Stockwell: Tiki will be returning for his 3rd season with the Civics and has become better each year, this season he will be looking to improve upon his rookie year numbers of 2 assists in 17 games. He is one of the strongest and most physically gifted players on New Tecumseth.
Stockwell will once again be wearing #26!
