The New Tecumseth Civics are proud to announce that they have re-signed General Manager Jordan Richardson to return with the same role for the upcoming 2021-2022 season.

Richardson will be returning to the Civics and working closely once again with President/Owner Nikita Vasilyev and Head Coach Joe Cathcart.

Richardson’s second year in management in 2019-2020 saw the Civics with a one point improvement in the season standings, the Civics finished the season winning 5 of the 9 Individual GMHL Awards for only the second time in the history of the league. They lost to the Bradford Rattlers in the playoffs before the remainder of the playoffs was not completed.

Richardson is excited to return to the team and has high expectations, “I can’t wait for this upcoming season, it could be our most fun yet. We have a great group of guys ready to return and work towards our goal of winning a championship. I am ready to put in the work in order to make that a reality for the team we have this upcoming fall.” Richardson has personal experience having won the league title in 2015-2016.

That season Richardson would be a part of what many believe to be the best team in the history of the league as the Steam would go 41-1-0, Winning the regular season title before capping off their playoff run with an epic game 7 win against the Kingsville Kings to win the Russell Cup.

Richardson has not been a part of a losing team in his GMHL tenure with teams he's worked with going 202-87-7 in that span, Richardson also had a close hand in the development and advancement of 2 time Goalie Of The Year and MVP runner up TJ Sherwood who was called up to the ECHL twice while working with Richardson and the Civics.  Richardson helped represent the Civics at both the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 All Star Showcase helping coach team North College and Team North Pro to victory.

Sherwood is one of the many GMHL standouts Richardson has had pleasure of either working with or skating alongside in his league tenure including such players as Sherwood, Single Season Point Record Holder and 2nd Place holder Matt Fischer and Graham Pickard, Defensive forward of the Year Carmine Vietri, 50 goal scorer Ryan Brain, Defensive Player of the Year Kevin Walker and MVP Stepan Timofeyev.

Vasilyev was excited about the return of Richardson to the staff as well, “JR is a very important piece to have coming back, and he does a lot for the program. Not only is he our General Manager but he oversees Gameday Operations and Player development as well. We are very excited to have him back in this role as GM.”

From those of us who got to watch you do your work with Tottenham to those of us that met you when you moved to Alliston all of us in New Tecumseth are very proud of the work you have put in and couldn’t be happier to be welcoming back one of the brightest young minds in the league to our community once more. Congratulations from Civic Nation JR.
