Civics Sign 4 Ahead of Season Opener

The time of year we love is upon us and we couldn’t be more excited, this week the New Tecumseth Civics have the pleasure of kicking off their 2020-2021 GMHL season with their season and home opening game against the Tottenham Thunder.

 

With the season finally upon us we have the pleasure of announcing more offseason moves as the Civics are proud to announce the following 4 have been added to the roster for the 2020-2021 season.

 

Free Agent Additions

1999 Forward Luke Cabral: Veteran player Luke Cabral joins the Civics from the Port Credit Storm hockey program where he was a versatile player who not only showed his skill with the puck on his stick but also off of it, his ability to line up as both a defenseman and a forward is extremely valuable to the Civics.

Cabral on joining the Civics, “I’m so excited for this season to start and to contribute to our team as a top contender. I can’t wait to play alongside this great group of guys that share my passion for working hard and playing the sport we love. I can’t wait to make an impact with my new teammates on and off the ice!”

Cabral will be wearing #8 for the Civics.

 

1999 Forward Matteo Persechini: Persechini also joins the Civics from Port Credit and is a sharp shooting forward who showed it last season, he has been with the Civics and has really impressed the coaching staff throughout camp and will definitely be an impact player on the team this season.

Persechini on being added to the New Tecumseth roster, “Looking forward to the 2020-2021 GMHL season with the new Tecumseth Civics. Can’t wait to get started and make an impact in the league and on the team. Finding myself as a 2 way forward that is physical on the defensive end and as well as a playmaker on the offensive end. Looking forward in pushing hard with the squad through this unexpected Covid season and giving my all in every game for my team.”

Persechini will be wearing #21 for the Civics

 

2002 Forward Gabriel Mammoliti: Mammoliti joins the Civics from Bolton and is expected to continue to develop his skills on the ice in his first season of junior hockey, throughout camp Gabe has shown flashes of high level skill and has been eager to prove himself at every practice. Mammoliti expects to be a rookie to watch!

Mammoliti on joining his first junior program, “ I am very excited to be joining the Civics this season, the program has a great reputation and I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff as well as all of the returning players. I want to win a championship with these boys and we will work hard every day to make that happen.”

Mammoliti will be wearing #19 for the Civics!

 

Re-Signing

2001 Defenseman Vladislav Kukarin: Kukarin joined the Civics last season for his first year of junior hockey and developed on the ice all season long, working his way into the lineup and picking up on defensive zone coverages, This year Vlad comes into the season in the best shape of his hockey career and he has looked the part so far. This season Vlad will be looking to improve on his first year stats which included an Assist in 7 appearances last year.

Kukarin, on coming back to Alliston, “ I have been working very hard this off season and I think it is going to show on the ice, last year was a learning experience as I adjusted to the speed and skill level of junior hockey. This year I am ready to help make an impact and bring a title to New Tecumseth!”

Vlad will once again be wearing #5 this season!
