CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19)
Date: Mar 12, 2020

Gentlemen,
No one could have predicted a week or ten days ago that we would be in the predicament we are in today, and things are happening hourly. Sports have shut down, the market is on the verge of crashing and you can't even cough in public without everyone giving you a dirty look. As with all other crisis', we will get past this and move on and joke about it later.
Right now it looks like the phrase is "an abundance of caution" is in place as we try to "socially distance" ourselves from others to prevent getting what amounts to a very bad flu. Understandable. Seems that most kids have avoided this and the strain is affecting older adults the worst. A lot of us are in that category. Let's exercise that caution and hope for the best.
There is no indication that our season will be cancelled. Things are very fluid right now and change daily. We will continue to look to the week of April 19th as our Opening Week, and we will play in front of no one, as usual.
It’s been a mild winter and Spring just may be a good one this year. MABL NYC is cancelling any exhibition games just to keep in accordance with what seems to be the best practice of shutting down the increase of the virus in our area. However, in an "abundance of caution" We will monitor the situation weekly.
I'm adhering to Farr's Law of Epidemics in that they rise in fall in a symmetrical pattern like a bell curve. In other words, this too shall pass.
Be Safe & Stay Healthy.
Sincerely,
Tony Agosto
MABL NYC League President,
