NEW 2020 ALL-STAR GAME FORMAT

Date:  Source: MABL NYC

This year’s All-Star weekend will have a refreshing taste. In years past our All-Star game has lacked the excitement and the importance it once had. This time around we have decided to make the experience a little more interactive. With a new format in place, the league is hoping to increase the level of competition and put on a more competitive and exciting exhibition.

How will the All-Star weekend play out? Here's a breakdown of the new 2020 format: For the first time in MABL NYC history the All-Star game will actually be a draft, similar to the one the NBA implemented in their All Star game. We won’t have LeBron James or Giannis Antetokounmpo as team captains, we’ll just have to settle for last year’s championship winning managers to serve as captains for their respective teams. The winning manager from last year’s championship series will represent the MABL NYC “Red Team” and the other manager will be calling the shots for MABL NYC “Blue Team”. All of the All-Star selections will be placed in a draft pool, where both managers will draft players to form their All-Star team. The championship winning manager from the previous season will have the first pick in the draft and his team will be the home team for the exhibition game. The draft will take place live on @MABLNYC Instagram account, so stay tuned and make sure you watch the live feed.

To add a little incentive for the participating players, the All-Star game MVP will be awarded a cash reward to go along with their All-Star game MVP trophy. Our big home run mashers won’t be leaving empty handed either. The Home Run Derby winner will be awarded a gift card towards the purchase of a new bat along with their Home Run Derby trophy. This year’s mid-summer classic is a can’t miss event taking place on 4th of July weekend. Bring out the family for a beautiful day of baseball!
