The New Tecumseth Civics are proud to announce they have re-signed hard working and gritty forward Lane Knapp to the roster for the upcoming 2018-2019 season.

Last season Knapp was a very important player on the Civics roster being asked to play a large part of the Civics special teams especially on the penalty kill. He was able to set a new career high in points (10) and assists (7) and added 3 goals this season to go along with only 4 penalty minutes in 36 games for New Tec.

Knapp, the Southey, Saskatchewan native, spent the season before last playing Junior ‘B’ Hockey in the Prairie Junior Hockey League (PJHL) for the Regina Silver Foxes showing off his work ethic and skills on the ice over parts of 2 seasons with the team, most recently season scoring a well-rounded 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points and proving to be a durable forward playing in 39 of the teams games.

Prior to joining the Silver Foxes Knapp had been playing Midget AA minor hockey for the Lumsden/Bethune Lions where he played for 3 seasons putting up 43 Points (17G, 26A) and gaining attention from junior leagues across western Canada, even getting called up to the Silver Foxes during his last year of minor and having an immediate impact scoring 4 Points (1G, 3A) in 5 games solidifying his roster spot for the next season.

When asked about returning to New Tecumseth and his expectation for the team Knapp was proud of last season but looks forward to big things this year “I’m excited to come back and play for the civics and I think we had a good year and a good team last year but I think we will have an even better year and team this year and I can’t wait to get the new season underway. “

Civics GM Dennis Martindale also shared his thoughts on the re-signing of the skilled 1999 born forward, “Laner is a great returning piece of our puzzle, his work ethic on and off the ice is top notch. I think he learned a lot last season and battled a few injuries , but they will only make him stronger this season, I also think Laner has the potential to be a good forward in this league, he is well liked by his teammates and will be a strong veteran presence in the dressing room. We are all happy to have him back.”

Civic Nation is happy to welcome back Laner for another season in New Tecumseth, we hope that you can continue to provide your skills and a hard work ethic as we gear up for a title run and a championship for the Civics.
