Team HEO battled their way to a Consolation Gold Win

Kitchener, Ont. – Despite a second period come back by Team NOHA, Team HEO battled their way to a 4-3 win in the Consolation Gold game.

 

Stuart Rolofs put Team HEO on the board unassisted in the first. Before the buzzer went, Jake Coleman extended their lead from Stuart Rolofs, Connor Lockhart.

 

Now in the second, Hunter Brown scored from Connor Lockhart for Team HEO.

But Team NOHA wasn’t going to see a shutout for Team HEO  - Ethan Marois scored short handed from Stephen Pszeniczny. Less than two minutes later,  Mitchell Martin scored for Team NOHA from Max McCue. And with just 25 seconds to go, Connor Lockhart  got his second from Jake Coleman, Stuart Rolofs for Team HEO.

 

The only goal of the third came from Nolan Moxam unassisted for Team NOHA and despite closing the gap Team HEO held them off for the remainder of the period to secure the Consolation Bronze game.

The OHL Gold Cup is an annual showcase event featuring top under-16 talent in Ontario. As part of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence (POE), players competing at the OHL Gold Cup have an opportunity to be evaluated for invitation to the national under-17 development camp, where Hockey Canada gathers the top talent from across the country to introduce players to the national team program and provide a foundation of development as they progress through the POE.
