OGDEN, UT - The BYU Cougars once again make history with the club's first Wasatch Cup Championship.
The Wasatch Cup is a playoff tournament between all D2 Utah collegiate hockey teams for claim to the State championship.
Utah State went into the tournament as the reigning champion from 2018, but faced a tough road to reclaim that title.
BYU played UVU in the first round on Friday and dominated in an 11-3 win. USU followed that evening with a win over Weber State on Weber's home ice, beating them 5-2.
Since Weber was the host team, the Championship game was held on Saturday at 4pm in Ogden with the Cougars looking to take down the Aggies, and as it turned out that is exactly what happened.
When the final horn sounded the Cougars had secured the victory and the Championship with a 5-3 victory.
