Zac Boam - BYU Hockey is excited to announce the commitment of defenseman, Zac Boam! A native of Farmington, UT and recently returning from the Texas Houston East mission, Zac will bring a physical and aggressive presence to our defensive core this season. Zac formerly played for the Viewmont Vikings, winning two high school state championships and an additional state title with the Gold Eagles. Zac enjoys playing golf, riding motorcycles, scuba diving, video games and eating In & Out Burger, and was also incredible skilled at cup stacking and yoyo’s in his younger years.
Jackson Bagshaw - Everyone please welcome Jackson Bagshaw, one of our newest cougar hockey players! Jackson was born in Calgary Alberta Canada and has lived there his whole life! He has played hockey since he was young but is recently getting back into playing competitively. He served a mission in Nashville Tennessee and returned roughly a year ago. Jackson enjoys fly fishing, camping, baseball and eating Mo Bettahs, and has one of the best mustaches on the team!
Patrick Shimbashi - Everyone please welcome to the team, our newest player, Patrick Shimbashi! If the name sounds familiar to you, you are not mistaken, Patrick with be the 2nd Shimbashi brother to join our team after his brother Ashton graduated in 2019. Patrick was born and raised in barnwell Alberta Canada. 3 things in his life that have stayed constant are Family, God and hockey. He served his mission in the Philippines Cavite mission and his absolute favorite things are fishing, hunting, school and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Dylan Walton - Please welcome one of our newest players, Dylan Walton! Dylan hails from Soldotna, Alaska and has been playing hockey since he was 4 years old. As captain and MVP Dylan lead his high school to multiple conference championships 🏆 Dylan loves hiking, skiing and traveling.
Joshua Tree - Yet ANOTHER amazing player has committed to us from Soldotna, Alaska. Meet Joshua Tree (sound familiar??), a jack-of-all-trades athlete who we are so excited to welcome to the team. Before you ask, yes! Joshua and our other new signee, Dylan, are great friends, and will bring an a great aspect to the team. Joshua loves hiking, fishing, and “anything outdoors”. He has played almost any high school sport you could imagine, and is overall an incredible athlete.
Nathan Fetzer - Please welcome Nate Fetzer or “Fetz” as he is affectionally known on the team. Nate is a local from Murray, Utah and just returned home from his mission in Lima, Peru. He is studying marketing at BYU, and loves running, boating, soccer, and weightlifting! After having Nate with us for 2 games last season, we can’t wait to see what he brings this year.
Ammon Anderson - Former Ogden Mustangs star player Ammon Anderson joins the team this season after serving in the LDS Salem Oregon mission. A Syracuse, Utah native, Ammon has four siblings and loves hunting big or small game and fishing in Alaska. Ammon's hockey career took off when he started playing for the Ogden Mustangs as a 16 year old. In his two seasons with the team he was the fifth highest point scorer in team history. He got noticed, but he turned down opportunities to play at a higher level to serve a mission and he has no regrets. We're excited to have him join the Cougars this season!
