The Parksville Royals Baseball Club are proud to announce that Josh Laukkanen and Brady Ratcliffe have been named to the BC Premier Baseball League’s All-Conference teams for the 2018 season.

Josh Laukkanen did it all in 2018.  At the plate, he led the team in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage to produce an eye-popping slash line of .325/.469/.524.   Oh and did we mention that when Josh signed at Cloud County College in Kansas, what caught their attention was his pitching?   Laukkanen commanded his 87 mph fastball and sweet curveball to strike out 32 batters over 39 innings of regular season and playoff games.  No surprise then that Josh was named to the first team All-Conference in the Utility slot.

Brady Ratcliffe came blazing out of the gate in 2018, going 6-0 in his first six starts.  Ratcliffe finished the year 8-2 with 2 no-decisions.  He was all over the PBL pitching leaderboard finishing 2nd in Wins, 8th in ERA, and 8th in strike-outs.  Brady started opposing batters off with a strike 70% of the time and held them to a .221 batting average over 61 innings of work.  Ratcliffe was named to the second team All-Conference as a pitcher and signed with Cloud County College in Kansas for the 2019 season.

Head coach Frank Kaluzniak was pleased to hear that his players had been recognized by the league.  “Josh and Brady put in the effort and it showed on the field” said Kaluzniak.  “They deserved that recognition and should excel at college.  Cloud County has a track record of moving players up.  Last year they had 15 players drafted or move on to Div I and Div II schools.  Josh and Brady bring the skills and work-ethic and are in the right environment to succeed.”
