As the 2018 year comes to an end for the Toronto Mets we would like to look back on the past 12 months that made 2018 a memorable one for the Mets Organization. The Mets are proud of all our current and alumni players that continue to succeed at the Provincial, National, Collegiate, and Professional level. 

 

Here’s a timeline of a tremendous 2018 year.

 

January

 

Jan.  3: LHP Adam Parker commits to Jefferson College in Missouri. 

Jan. 12: RHP Shane Duffett commits to Lake Michigan College in Michigan.

Jan. 27: LHP/1B Matthew Deen commits to Castleton University in Vermont.

Jan. 30: INF Ben Jones commits to Mineral Area College in Missouri. 

 

February 

 

Feb.  2: OF Denzel Clarke commits to Cal State University Northridge in California.

Mar. 12: Keegan Pulford-Thorpe, Daniel Carinci, Denzel Clarke named to Junior National Team.

Mar. 23: Rawlings Perfect Game Pre Season All-Stars Named

Tyler Black, Denzel Clarke, Thomas Murphy, Ryan Capuano, Daniel Carinci, Leo Markotic, Adam Parker, and Tony Vavaroutsos.

Mar. 28: Alumni JD Osborne (Marlins) and Eric Senior (Nationals) compete in Spring Training.

 

April 

 

Apr. 1: OF Tony Vavaroutsos commits to Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.

Apr. 10 Alumni Gianfranco Morello named Mountain East Conference Player of the week.

Apr. 10 Alumni Tristan Pompey named SEC player of the week.

Apr. 26: Alumni Matt Hilderbrandt hits for the cycle for Cuyahoga CC.

Apr. 26: Alumni Liam Hicks and Matt Turino compete in game action.

Apr. 29: Lady Mets Coach Chris Jones named Team Ontario Summer Games Coach.

 

May 

 

May  1: Alumni Niall Windeller throws seven innings striking out nine in the win.

May  1: Alumni Matt Turino collects 11 hits and drives in 12 during the week.

May  7: Alumni Jesse Elliott goes 5-5 with 2 home runs. 

May 15: Denzel Clarke, Daniel Carinci, and Keegan Pulford-Thorpe named to JNT 

Dominican Summer League

May 22: Cole Iantomasi leads 16u Orange to an undefeated start to the season.

Jun.  1: Evan Magill commits to Monroe Community College in New York.

Jun.  1: Sam Jones commits to Western Oklahoma State College.

Jun.  5: Alumni Tristan Pompey drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 3rdRound

Jun.  6: Denzel Clarke drafted by the New York Mets in the 36thRound.

Jun. 17: Toronto Mets 17u Orange wins the Platnium bracket in Cincinnati Tournament Of Champions.

Jun. 18: Daniel Carinci commits to the University of Alabama.

 

July

 

Jul. 15: Toronto Mets 14u win the Kent State Pastime Tournament Championship.

Jul. 16: Toronto Mets 16u Orange finishes regular season 25-1 to capture 1stplace. 

Jul. 28: Toronto Mets 17u Orange win the CPBL Playoffs

Jul. 29: Toronto Mets 16u Orange win the CPBL Playoffs in dramatic fashion. 

Jul. 31: Alumni Andy Yerzy named NWL All-Star

 

August 

 

Aug.  5: Ryan Leitch commits to Marshall University in West Virginia

Aug. 13: Ryan Leitch, Noah Hull, Kieran Gagnon, Noel McGarry-Doyle, Curtis March, CJ Maury, Jake Rogers, and Coach Leitch win Gold at the Baseball Canada Cup. Noah Hull was named MVP.

Aug. 31: Keegan Pulford-Thorpe commits to University of Central Florida. 

Aug. 31: Owen Benson commits to Lake Michigan College in Michigan.

 

September

 

Sep.  1: T12 names 13 Toronto Mets to their rosters OF Kieran Gagnon - 1st T12, OF Zach Gardiner - 1st T12, IF/OF Noah Hull - 2nd T12, C Ryan Leitch - 1st T12, OF Noel McGarry-Doyle - 2nd T12, LHP Keegan Pulford-Thorpe - 2nd T12, LHP Carter Seabrooke- 3rd T12, IF/RHP - Drew Howard - 1st T12, IF Cole Iantomasi- 1st T12, RHP Graham MacNeil - 1st T12, OF/1B CadenShapiro - 1st T12, LHP Mitchell Bratt- 1st T12, RHP Turner Spoljaric- 1st T12

Sep. 17: Ontario Green wins T12 Championship. Noah Hull, Kieran Gagnon, Graham MacNeil, Noel McGarry-Doyle, Zach Gardiner, Drew Howard of the Toronto Mets were all on the Championship Roster.

Sep. 23: Keegan Pulford-Thorpe, Noah Hull, Noel McGarry-Doyle, and Mitch Bratt named to the Junior National Fall Instructional Team.

 

October

 

Oct. 12: Tyler Chong, Justin Carinci, Turner Spoljaric, and Ben Sitareniosnamed to the Perfect Game All Tournament Team in Fort Myers, Florida.

Oct. 14: Toronto Mets Founder John “JJ” Jepson passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Oct. 20: INF Eric Chartier commits to the University of Charleston in West Virginia.

Oct. 20: LHP Carter Seabrooke commits to South Carolina-Sumter Junior College.

Oct. 20: OF Kieran Gagnon commits to Gannon University in Pennsylvania.

Oct. 23: Toronto Mets complete their College Fall Trip. The 2018 trip included stops at NKU, EKU, University of Kentucky, Rio Grande University, Marshall, University of Charleston, Clarion University, University of Pittsburgh, Mercyhurst University, and Canisius College.

Oct. 23: Keegan Pulford-Thorpe, Mitch Bratt, Alumni Denzel Clarke and Daniel Carinci, were named to the JNT Selection Camp.

Oct. 31: Jacob Bonzon commits to Roanoke College in Virginia. 

 

November

 

Nov: 12: Alumni Matt Turino commits to the University of Tennessee.

Nov: 18: Alumni Liam Hicks commits to Arkansas State.
