NYBA Announces North York Mets 15U

Toronto, ON – This week was the start of tournament season for our 16u Toronto Mets. 16u Sereda and 16u Watt competed in the All American Memorial Classic Scout Event in Columbus, OH.
16u Watt went 1-2 in Pool Play despite strong pitching performances on the mound. Carter Quinny threw five shutout innings in his start striking out 2 and scattering 3 hits. Russel Agar pitched 3 strong innings picking up the win while striking out 6 batters. Jake Smith continued to throw well throwing 4 innings striking out 6. Owen Kane made his season debut on the mound throwing 2 innings striking out 4.
16u Sereda went 3-0 in Pool Play before losing a tough one in the semi-finals. Call up Aaron Manias led the way offensively going 7-13 with a double, triple, and 5 RBI’s. Justin Murray went 5-12 with a double and triple, he also scored 4 runs. The team was led by the outstanding performance on the mound. They had a team ERA 1.35 striking out 21 batters giving up just 5 runs in 5 earned runs in the 5 games. Landon Bentley, Matt Gallifent, Lukas Sabo, Lee Majerovits and Bryce Elias were all impressive on the mound. It was Tyler Chong who topped all for Performer of the week. Chong threw a complete game shutout striking out 5 in the victory. He was equally as great at the plate as well hitting 4-7 with 3 RBI’s 5 runs, 2 walks, and 2 stolen bases.
The 14u Mets had a lighter week, playing in just two games. Calvin Warrilow and Owen Shepherd led the way with three hits each. Shepherd connected for a mammoth homerun. Caden Reed picked up 2 doubles and drove in 3 runs.
17u Reid were led offensively by Ryan Kehoe, Caden Shapiro, and Justin Carinci. He player had 4 hits. Shapiro added 4 RBI’s and Quinton McRae drove in 4 runs as well. On the mound Mitch Bratt was outstanding in his start. The Junior National Team lefty pitched 5 strong innings striking out 9 giving up one earned in the no decision. Alex Vince pitched a solid 3 innings striking out 5 in his appearance.
17u Maury enjoyed strong starts on the mound this week from Cameron Byberg and Evan Soules. Byberg threw 5.2 very strong innings of work in his victory, striking out 7 batters scattering 4 hits. Soules threw 4 solid innings striking out 4 giving up 1 run on 4 hits. Jake Bucovetsky, Chris Bayley, and Graham MacNeill each threw shutout baseball.
The 18u Toronto Mets were led by Matt Ferris who went 7-9 with 3 RBI’s. Zach Gardiner belted out 6 hits while Nathan Scragg and Kieran Gagnon each hit homeruns. Curtis March threw 8 dominate innings this week picking up a win and striking out 7 batters while only walking 2. Marshall Leishman was effective in his 3 innings of work picking up a win and a save.
